Coach Greg Retires

Coach Greg Juliano

After 30 years of coaching, Coach Greg has decided to hang up his skates.  While the Greater New Haven Warriors was originally established in 1946, it was resurrected some 30 plus years ago.  Greg Juliano was a key figure in helping build the organization that we know today.  As Director of Player Development, Coach Greg was the face of Mite Development.  His enthusiasm for hockey often motivated out littlest skaters to wake up (and wake their parents up) at early hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings so that they could learn to play the greatest game.

Even though Coach Greg won't be on the ice with the Mites this season, he will still be a vital part of our organization. Greg has become a member of the Warriors' Board of Trustees.  Thank you Coach Greg for the countless ways you have shared your passion for hockey with our sons and daughters.

GREATER NEW HAVEN WARRIORS

MITE DEVELOPMENT HOCKEY

2017-18 SEASON

“QUEST FOR PATRICK CUP”

Registration for the GREATER NEW HAVEN WARRIORS Mite Development hockey program is now open! This program is designed for boys and girls making the transition from learn-to-skate and learn-to-play hockey programs to a more team oriented, skill development hockey league.

Teams

The GNH Warriors Mite Development program is split into four teams: Nighthawks, Blades, Eagles, and Tomahawks all representing  former New Haven minor professional hockey teams. The program consists of 3 ice sessions per week. A weekday practice that focuses on skating and individual skills, a weekend practice that focuses on skills and team concepts, and a weekend cross ice game. The season culminates in the Patrick Cup playoff weekend (named after the founders of the Greater New Haven Warriors Lynn and Lester Patrick).

Format

The Warriors half-ice USA hockey ADM format focuses on player’s ice awareness, skill development, and most importantly fun as they begin their journey in hockey. The focus in practice is on the fundamentals:  skating, stick handling, shooting, and hockey IQ in a safe and fun environment. There are no tryouts for Mite Development. All players sign up and are evaluated at the beginning of the season before they are split into four teams.

Schedule

All sessions take place at the Northford Ice Pavilion

The Mite Development season kicks off Saturday, September 9th at 8:40 AM. The schedule for the season is:

Thursdays at 5:00p (Skating and Individual Skills Practice)

Saturdays at 7:30a (Team Practice)

Sundays at 8:40a (Cross Ice Game)

There is also a Holiday Jamboree that all the players participate in over the Holiday break
