2014-15 MITE DEVELOPMENT TEAMS NOW FORMING!

Registration Open to Boys & Girls 5-8 Years Old

 

Registration for the Warriors Mite Development teams is now open. The Mite Development program is designed for boys and girls making the transition from clinic to more team-oriented play as well as returning players who wish to continue their individual and team skills development. Players must be able to skate forward, backwards and stop to participate.

Teams:

Four teams, the Nighthawks, Blades, Eagles and Tomahawks, all named after former New Haven minor pro teams, will play a 20-game regular season schedule of half-ice games against each other as well as other local organizations. The season will culminate in a playoff for the Patrick Cup (named after league founders Lynn and Lester Patrick). The teams also participate in a Holiday Jamboree.

Format:

The Warriors Mite Development half-ice format conditions and improves all aspects of a player’s game, including skating, stick handling, shooting and more importantly, their reaction time in a safe and fun environment. There are no tryouts. Players will be evaluated at the beginning of the season to ensure a competitive balance between teams.

Schedule:

Play takes place three times a week, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday beginning Thursday, September 4th and continues through February 22, 2015 (21 weeks) excluding Christmas.

Times

Thursdays - 5:00pm-6:00pm

Saturdays - 7:00am - 8:00am

Sundays - 7:00am - 8:00am

Equipment:

Full equipment is required. Discounted equipment packages are available from Hamden Sports, 2858 Whitney Ave, Hamden. Players will receive a Team jersey.

Tuition: $1,000

Fall First Strides Registration Now Open

FALL FIRST STRIDES REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

 

Registration is open for First Strides, Connecticut’s Premier FREE Learn-to-Skate program developed by the Greater New Haven Warriors. The program provides aspiring players between the ages of 4-10 the opportunity to take their "first strides" in developing an interest in ice hockey. Emphasis is placed on the very basics of skating within a safe and fun environment. It is designed for first-time skaters only please. Players who have previously participated in First Strides or another Learn-to-Skate program should register for the Warriors Learn-to-Play Hockey clinics.
 
Note: There is no cost to participate or use the loaner equipment (see equipment section below). All players must register with USA Hockey. There is a minimum cost to register for USA Hockey for players 6 and older.   


Equipment: We have a limited amount of loaner equipment available on a first come, first served basis. Please indicate if you will be borrowing equipment or using your own when you register. Players will receive a helmet with full face guard, hockey gloves and hockey skates. We also recommend that players wear shin guards and elbow pads. Discounted equipment packages are available from Hamden Sports on Whitney Ave. if you wish to purchase your own equipment.
 
First Strides begins on September 13th and ends October 5th.  
 
Note: All sessions are held at Northford Ice Pavilion on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Each session runs 60:00.

WARRIORS FALL LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY REGISTRATION NOW OPEN 

LEARN-TO-PLAY HOCKEY CLINIC REGISTRATION OPEN
Fall program runs for eight weeks!
 
The Warriors Learn-to-Play Hockey clinic is a preparatory program designed to teach new and returning players 4-10 years old proper skating and introductory hockey skills. This program is for players who have recently completed the Warriors Fall or Winter Learn-to-Play Hockey or similar program and want to advance to the next step in learning the game of hockey. It consists of 16, one hour sessions at the Northford Ice Pavilion.
 
Equipment: Full equipment is required. Discounted equipment packages are available from Hamden Sports on Whitney Ave. in Hamden. Players will receive a Warriors jersey.
 
Fall Clinic begins on October 11th and ends on December 21st. 

Note: All sessions are held at Northford Ice Pavilion on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Each session runs 60:00.

Light Travel Registration Now Open

WARRIORS 2014-15 LIGHT TRAVEL TEAMS NOW FORMING

Registration Open for Novice Players 9-12 Year Olds

 

Light Travel Teams were developed to provide players between the ages of 9 and 12 the opportunity to continue to develop their skills while playing at an appropriate competitive and more cost-effective level. There are no tryouts to participate. Teams will be rostered by age, have two touches of ice per week for practices and games and play approximately 15-20 home and away games.   
 
The mission of the Light Travel Teams is to allow both new and experienced players at the Squirt & Pee Wee levels to focus on improving their individual and team play within a positive and fun environment and without the high cost associated with full travel teams.
 
Play starts on September 6th, 2014 and continues through the end of February 2015 (excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas week). Tuition is $1,600 and full equipment is required.
