Registration for Warriors Mite Development is now open
The Mite Development teams are designed for boys and girls making the transition from a learn-to-play hockey clinic to more team-oriented play as well as returning players who wish to continue their individual and team skills development. Players must be able to skate forward, backwards and stop to participate.
Four teams, the Nighthawks, Blades, Eagles and Tomahawks, all named after former New Haven minor pro teams, will play a 21-game regular season schedule of half-ice games against each other as well as other local organizations. The season will culminate in a two game playoff for the Patrick Cup (named after league founders Lynn and Lester Patrick). The teams also participate in a Holiday Jamboree.
The Warriors Mite Development half-ice format conditions and improves all aspects of a player’s game, including skating, stick handling, shooting and more importantly, their reaction time in a safe and fun environment. There are no tryouts. Players will be evaluated at the beginning of the season to ensure a competitive balance between teams.
Play takes place three times a week, Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday beginning Wednesday, September 7th and continues through February 12, 2017 excluding Columbus Day weekend & Christmas.
Full equipment is required. Discounted equipment packages are available from Hamden Sports, 2858 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Players will receive a Team jersey.

*9 & 10 year old players are eligible for Mite Development provided they have completed a learn-to-play hockey program and have not played on a house or travel team previously.
The Greater New Haven Warriors are pleased to announce the addition of two midget hockey teams, adding a U-18 and U-16 for the fall of 2016. These teams will be USA Hockey National Bound Tier 1 midget teams that will compete in the Connecticut Hockey Conference and the areas top Showcases and tournaments.
Both teams will be split season and offer a prep school and high school friendly schedule that will begin in late August and end in November at the New England District Regionals.
“We are really excited about offering these levels within our program and supplying the areas top players a program with deep history of promoting players to the next level and furthering their development as hockey players” said Director of Hockey Operations Bryan Leitch.
The teams will be managed and coached by two former NCAA Division 1 and professional players, RJ Gates (UMass-Amherst - 2001) and Bryan Leitch (Quinnipiac University – 2009).
