Registration for Warriors Mite Development is now open
The Mite Development teams are designed for boys and girls making the transition from a learn-to-play hockey clinic to more team-oriented play as well as returning players who wish to continue their individual and team skills development. Players must be able to skate forward, backwards and stop to participate.
Four teams, the Nighthawks, Blades, Eagles and Tomahawks, all named after former New Haven minor pro teams, will play a 21-game regular season schedule of half-ice games against each other as well as other local organizations. The season will culminate in a two game playoff for the Patrick Cup (named after league founders Lynn and Lester Patrick). The teams also participate in a Holiday Jamboree.
The Warriors Mite Development half-ice format conditions and improves all aspects of a player’s game, including skating, stick handling, shooting and more importantly, their reaction time in a safe and fun environment. There are no tryouts. Players will be evaluated at the beginning of the season to ensure a competitive balance between teams.
Play takes place three times a week, Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday beginning Wednesday, September 7th and continues through February 12, 2017 excluding Columbus Day weekend & Christmas.
Full equipment is required. Discounted equipment packages are available from Hamden Sports, 2858 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Players will receive a Team jersey.
